Great British Bake Off Challenge!

I LOVE the Great British Bake Off and am religious about sitting down every Tuesday night (normally with my husband and various friends) and watching it. But this year I am upping my game and cooking a new pudding from an old school cook book each week to make me less hungry whilst I watch it! The cook book was given to me by my mum when I left home and was published the year I was born 1983 (this sounds very gushy and sentimental but I'm sure she didn't realise it!!).

The 1st week was Bread and Butter pudding, I didn't manage to take a picture before it was devoured by hungry neighbours, but have been informed by Hubby that i must make another to make blog accurate!

This week was Lemon Layer sponge, purely because we had all the ingredients in and it seems easy. I loved the fact that it made its own custard layer so I didn't have to find a packet of birds!

Autumn Anticipation

Is it really August still, I'm sitting here contemplating putting the heating on and craving a wood burner again! One thing i love about living in the country is being able to see the seasons change and I always eagerly anticipate the next season approaching and i love Autumn! Its a season of mellowness, trees slowly changing and the nights drawing in but with none of the harshness that Winter brings. I love kicking leaves, orange landscapes and being able to wear hats and scarf's and banish all those flimsy summer dresses and re-embrace the comfort of leggings and knitwear!

I have tried to learn to knit on numerous occasions and have just been successful at annoying those trying to teach me, but this year i am going to attempt to master crochet instead.... i will keep you posted on how i get on!
